November 28- Day 53

Well, it's official. The puppies have demedex. It's the same thing that Scarlett has, but it we caught it *really* early, before they lost any hair, so it's easily treatable. They are going through a 3-prong treatment- dip, ivermec, and shampoo. Within a couple of weeks, we should notice a great improvement.

Scarlett has also started her treatment. I can't wait to see how beautifully she turns out.

P'nut is going home next week. I can't believe how quickly time goes.

November 24- Day 49

The puppies are going in on Tuesday for their 9 week vaccinations. All are doing well and growing like weeds. Here are some photos I took today. They are beginning to sprout some sibling rivalry so I'm having to separate them. I think they may need to go to new homes sooner rather than later. Sigh...

Scarlett's hair has all but stopped growing. Hopefully Dr. Beall can give her something to help stimulate the growth. Please keep all of them in your prayers. I hope to get pics up soon.

November 6 - Day 31

Scarlett was spayed today. She did very very well. The puppies got their first set of vaccinations and another round of wormer. We are still fighting that battle. They came loaded with worms. I think we're about to get it under control now, though.

Everyone is doing well and Scarlett is making an impressive recovery. It was all I could do to keep her from running outside when she went out to potty.

I hope to get new pics up soon!

Explanation of color and patterns

I've been doing a lot of research on the color/pattern issue with these puppies. A good friend of mine in rescue told me that she was pretty sure these pups are piebalds. Double dapple and piebald can look very similar, and honestly, we were *hoping* for piebald, since the chance of deafness or blindness is eliminated.

I contacted Chris Simmons of Honeydachs dachshunds in MD. She had the best explanation of the differences in DD and Pied. She confirmed that they are indeed Piebald (and adorable to boot LOL)

Here is the link to her site for more information. Colors and Patterns
